Membership Committee

The goal of the Membership Committee is to develop incentive programs to attract new members and to work on programs to instill camaraderie amongst existing members. This committee also maintains membership records and databases. Task examples include: the info@rcra.org , Constant Contact, Facebook Administration and Quarterly Newsletters.

Nominating Committee

The goal of the Nominating Committee is to recruit candidates for Board positions.

Internship Site Committee

Board Contact:  Rob Macgowan

The goal of the Internship Site Committee is to promote the benefits of being a certified/approved site within RCRA as those will be the properites that will have more exposure to students looking for internships.

Awards Committee

Board Contact:  Pam Petcash

The goal of the Awards Committee is to remind members to recognize the outstanding contributions of its members at the annual national conference. Nominations are due at the end of September.

Ways & Means Committee

Board Contact:  Alison Jenks

The goal of the Ways & Means Committee is to produce fundraising efforst of $12,000 a year through creative fundraising at Regional and National Conferences and online promotions and sales. The Ways & Means Committee is heavily involved at the National Conference and is an excellent way to network with all members of the Association.

Site Selection Committee

The goal of the Site Selection Committee is to source new resort properties that are members of RCRA that are interested in hosting future conferences.

Conference Program Committee

The goal of the Conference Programming Committee is to plan educational sessions, theme parties, socials, tournaments and recreational events.

Vendors Committee

Board Contact:  Kari Bowman

The goal of the Vendor Committee is to contact companies within the recreation industry to share their products with the membership. This committee also promotes the National Conference to potential and current vendors to become sponsors of RCRA. Sponsors help support some of the activities help at the National Conference. The fiscal year of a vendor sponsorship runs November 1st through October 31st.

Journal of Tourism Insights

The goal of the Journal of Tourism Insights is to announce/promote the publication with appropriate professional organizations, faculty members, academic departments and groups that may be interested in the digital materials.

Educator’s Committee

Board Contact:  Scott Rood

The goal of the Educator’s Committee is to increase membership and participation of Educational Institutions in RCRA. In 2013 a new initiative, aimed at creating a student poster presentation event, will be launched. Educators are solicited to present (both in research and general sessions) as well as bring / send students to the Conference.  This Committee coordinates the 2 annual “Calls for Proposals” and their subsequent review by the Speaker Selection and Review Team. This Committee coordinates with the Editor of the Journal of Tourism Insights.  The goal of the Journal of Tourism Insights is to announce/promote the publication with appropriate professional organizations, faculty members, academic departments and groups that may be interested in the digital materials.

Social Committee

The goal of the social committee is to plan Conference theme parties, social, tournaments and recreational events. This committee works closely with the Conference Planning Committee.  All financial decisions will be voted on by the Board of Directors.
